Strogino, Moscow's first technology park, celebrates its 10th anniversary. Initially, it consisted of a business incubator and a technology park. A coworking facility was set up in 2014, followed by a 3D prototyping and microelectronics center a year later. The technology park now provides a full range of services to support technology projects, from inception to production.
According to Vladimir Dozhdev, Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship, technology parks have become a key element of the city's innovation infrastructure.
“Some of them focus on specific areas. Strogino, for example, focuses on emerging tech entrepreneurs. The park has a favorable environment for the development of innovations; it has facilitated many interesting projects,” said Dozhdev.
The coworking center tends to bring together people with startup ideas and plans. The business incubator serves as a project launch site, while the prototyping center provides opportunities to create working versions of future products. More than 70 prototypes have been made there. It is also possible to launch full production in Strogino and take advantage of tax incentives available for the park's residents.
Currently, Strogino hosts 42 resident IT companies involved in bioengineering and instrument engineering. According to the park's general manager Sergei Teplov, over the past 10 years Strogino has helped establish over 160 companies, including 70 successful companies, and 20 companies that are leaders in their respective areas.
Сontributions from the park's residents to Moscow's tax revenue generate about one billion roubles annually.
“Our companies post about five billion roubles in stable annual profits and pay about one billion roubles in taxes each year,” said Teplov. The technology park’s companies have attracted investment worth two billion roubles over the past 10 years, he added.
Vladimir Dozhdev emphasized the importance of technology parks for Moscow.
“This format has gained recognition in Russia and across the world. At the moment, we've got more than 15 requests for the technology park status,” noted Dozhdev.
Thirty technology parks have been established in the city since 2007.
