Moscow Technology Parks See Triple Growth in SMB Residents

Such residence helps SMBs save on taxes and rent.
The number of residents in Moscow technology parks has increased over the past three years from 380 small and medium-sized hi-tech enterprises in 2014 to 1.2 thousand companies, showing a three-fold increase, said Alexei Fursin, the head of the Moscow Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship, at a recent meeting with local manufacturers of pharmaceuticals.
“SMBs actively “move into” Moscow's technology parks. Over the past three years, the number of residents has tripled. It lets them save on taxes and rent,” said Fursin.
According to him, the residency in local technopolises gives entrepreneurs various advantages, where apart from property, transportation and income tax incentives, they can also enjoy free network access and lower insurance payments. In addition, they are exempt from export payments if their products are shipped abroad.
Currently, there are 30 technology parks in Moscow hosting more than 1,500 residents. Each park is focused on specific industries ranging from biotech to nanotechnologies.
