High-Speed Train Service Comes to Skolkovo
With the opening of the Innovatsionny Tsentr interchange hub, it is now possible to get from downtown Moscow to Skolkovo in just 17 minutes. The hub commenced its operations shortly before the opening of Startup Village, the largest technology conference in Eastern Europe that will be held in Skolkovo on May 29-30.
Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Moscow Oblast governor Andrei Vorobyov, transport minister Yevgeny Dietrich, Russian Railways head Oleg Belozerov, chairman of the board of the Skolkovo Foundation Viktor Vekselberg and chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation Arkady Dvorkovich took part in the opening of the new station.
Located between Nemchinovka and Bakovka stations, Innovatsionny Tsentr is accessible by trains departing from Belorussky Rail Terminal. The travel time is 17 minutes for express trains and up to 30 minutes for regular commuter trains. The fare is 138 ruble for express trains and 69 rubles for regular ones.
In addition to the train station, the interchange hub includes a business and shopping center Orbion and a parking lot. The central part of Skolkovo and the train station are connected by an overpass that crosses Minskoye Highway.
“The opening of the Innovatsionny Tsentr station is an event that we have all been waiting for a long time,” said Viktor Vekselberg, chairman of the board of the Skolkovo Foundation. “This is not just another, albeit very important, stage of development of the Skolkovo ecosystem. This is a visible confirmation of the transformation of Skolkovo into a science city in which it is convenient to live and work, welcome guests and friends, a city that can be reached comfortably and quickly from the center of Moscow. The new station will help us save one of the most valuable human resources — time — and spend it for the benefit of ourselves, business, and science.”
Trains will arrive at and depart from Innovatsionny Tsentr at the schedule that was in effect for the Trehgorka station. All previously purchased passes from and to Trehgorka are valid for travel from and to Innovatsionny Tsentr.
