Skolkovo to Accommodate Chinese Contact Center
One of the functions of the Chinese Contact Center is to demonstrate the hi-tech potential of China's regions.
The Skolkovo Foundation is strengthening its collaboration with the People's Republic of China. The Chinese Contact Center is opening its doors at Skolkovo to assist Russian startups with entering the PRC market. The center is organized jointly by the Skolkovo Foundation and PuR business incubator.
The name of the incubator is an acronym composed of the first two letters of the word Pudong (the district of Shanghai that hosts the Zhnagjiang Hi-Tech Park) and the first letter of the word Russia. PuR was launched several years ago for the sole purpose of working with Russian companies and helping them access Zhnagjiang, which is approximately ten times larger than Skolkovo and has a very strong biomedical cluster.
“The opening of the contact center gives our startups more opportunities to learn about Chinese innovations and build relationships with companies from the PRC,” said Natalya Polushkina, vice president of the Skolkovo Foundation and head of its biomedical cluster. “For me, support for biomedical research would be especially significant. It is gratifying to note that some residents of the Skolkovo Foundation have already begun to work with the PuR incubator, and we are pleased that new steps have been taken to strengthen our collaboration.”
One of the functions of the Chinese Contact Center is to demonstrate the potential of hi-tech industries in various regions of the PRC. The first participant in this project is the city of Kunshan (Jiangsu Province), home to more than a thousand hi-tech companies engaged in, among other things, optoelectronics, semiconductors and biomedicine. In his speech, Doo Xiaogang, secretary of the Kunshan Party Committee, drew attention to the great potential of collaboration in science and innovation between his city and the Skolkovo Foundation.
Maxim Romanov, director for international collaboration at the Skolkovo Foundation, told the Chinese delegation about the Skolkovo ecosystem, dwelling in detail on relations with China. Among the partners of the foundation is Huawei, and the only foreign representative office of Skolkovo is located in the PRC.
“We will be happy to work with more companies, including from China,” said Maxim Romanov. “They can open laboratories and research centers here. We will be grateful for their efforts in helping our companies enter international markets, including the Chinese market.”
