Skolkovo and KPMG Launch IT Startup Contest

The Skolkovo Foundation and KPMG have launched a joint competition for IT startups. Applications are accepted through September 11.

The competition is aimed at startups whose innovative solutions can facilitate the digital transformation of traditional businesses, help them significantly reduce costs and/or increase revenues.

Participation is open to companies in good standing with ready commercialization and organization models. Submitted solutions must have potential on international markets.

The organizers are particularly keen on solutions that involve big data, machine learning, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, digital manufacturing, IoT and distributed registry technologies.

According to Konstantin Parshin, Skolkovo VP and executive director of the IT cluster, the KPMG competition is a window of opportunities for companies that are ready to work with large B2B customers but cannot “reach” them independently. “The “startup-KPMG-enterprise customer” configuration is a win-win for all, because startups are lacking the competencies of the largest consulting company with its abundant experiences in working with domestic and international corporations. In their turn, corporations have a hard time working with innovative companies when it comes to aligning corporate business requirements with startup technologies.”

Alexei Romanenko, partner and head of management consulting at KPMG Russia, agrees: “Through us  clients are getting access to the differentiating solutions to boost their KPIs, while startups are accessing those largest companies that have entrusted their transformation to the leader of the consulting market.”

“We know the needs of our clients, and we have their trust,” continues Romanenko. “We also know that most efficient and creative solutions come to life when we combine the deep expertise of our employees with innovative startup solutions. We are seeking those whose solutions can be organically integrated into ours.”

Among the support options that the organizers will offer finalists is an opportunity to enter global markets with the help of KPMG offices in several countries. KPMG will include the finalists' products in its catalogue of approved solutions for digital transformation. Startups will be offered guidance in customizing their solutions to meet the needs of specific clients.

Top 10 entrants will have a chance to present their solutions in the final of the competition, which will be held during the Open Innovations 2019 forum at Skolkovo on October 21-23.
