Four Skolkovo Startups to Compete in Global EWC Finals
Four resident companies of the Skolkovo Foundation – Group-IB, Motorika, DRD and HemaCore – will take part in the finals of the Entrepreneurship World Cup in Saudi Arabia on November 12. The prize fund of the championship exceeds 5 million dollars.
Organized by MiSK Foundation (Saudi Arabia), the Entrepreneurship World Cup runs in 100 countries. Winners of the national qualifiers are invited to the finals in Er-Riyadh. All Russian finalists are Skolkovo-based startups.
The Russian part of the Entrepreneurship World Cup was co-organized by the Skolkovo Foundation and Skolkovo School of Management together with the Global Education & Leadership Foundation (tGELF) and Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN). The jury members included representatives of the aforementioned organizations, the National Association of Business Angels, AmCham Russia, and RBC TV.
Shiv Vikram Khemka, chief executive officer, vice chairman of the private investment company SUN Group, speaking before the start of the competition, noted that the organizers of this competition – MiSK Foundation – are striving to promote entrepreneurship around the world.
“I think it’s a very good idea to help spread innovative entrepreneurship so that it doesn’t become confined to locations such as Silicon Valley or Bangalore,” he said. “The time has come to create a global entrepreneurial ecosystem. This fully applies to Russia, where I have worked for many years. I know what a deep scientific foundation technology has here. Combining these technological capabilities with commercialization can give surprising results, as evidenced by the high level of Russian companies participating in the Russian stage of the competition.”
The four Skolkovo teams that made it to the EWC finals will undergo acceleration at one of the international accelerators at the expense of the organizers. In addition, the companies will be able to join the Practicum Global Shift program at a discount of 500,000 rubles, thanks to the prize provided by the Skolkovo School of Management.
