20 Moscow Fashion Designers to Join Mode:Moscow in Paris
A group of 20 local designers will showcase their Spring-Summer 2020 collections to professional audiences at Paris Fashion Week, which will run in the French capital from September 23 through October 1. Titled “Mode:Moscow” the project is organized with support from the Moscow Export Center, a subordinate organization of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.
The group was selected from more than 70 brands that showed initial interest in the initiative. Eligible candidates were chosen by an advisory board that included representatives of fashion publications and PR agencies, large retail companies, fashion experts and influencers. The board evaluated the quality of collections and their potential appeal to international audiences.
“The opportunity to demonstrate their products as part of a collective show during Paris Fashion Week generated a lot of interest among Moscow designers. Therefore, we decided to limit our selection to the manufacturers of apparel for adults, although we also had applications from those who specialize in children's clothing, leather goods and fashion accessories. For those who will participate in the project, the city will fully cover their logistics and exhibition space rental costs. We will also assist our designers with the organization of business meetings,” said Alexey Fursin, head of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.
“Mode:Moscow” will enable the fashion designers to gain access to buyers from leading international retail chains and concept stores. Each designer will be accompanied by industry professionals with an extensive database of contacts in the global fashion industry.
