Made in Moscow: Local Healthcare Manufacturers to Showcase Products at Medica Trade Fair in Germany

Among the exhibits are a unique surgical laser, an exoskeleton control kit, a blood stopper powder, and other advanced solutions.

Medica, the world's largest trade show for the medical sector, will run from November 18 through 21 in Dusseldorf. This year's event will be the second in a row to feature Moscow manufacturers: 24 companies will present their products under the single brand Made in Moscow. They will showcase over 60 innovations in medical equipment, aesthetic medicine, pharmaceuticals, information technologies and services.

„Moscow's medical and pharmaceutical exports play an important role in the city's economy and confirm demand for our products abroad. In the first eight months of 2019, these exports increased by 15.2% over the same period last year to reach $211.9 million. Our medical and pharmaceutical exports to Germany grew at an impressive rate of 113 percent,“ said Alexei Fursin, head of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.

Among the Moscow-made solutions to be showcased in Dusseldorf is a laser device used in surgery and in aesthetic procedures. It is less expensive than its European counterparts and better than most Asian ones. The system is already being exported to countries of the Middle East and North Africa.

Attendees of the trade show will be able to meet an anthropomorphic robot that realistically demonstrates the symptoms of a stroke. Visitors will also see unique neurocomplexes that enable paralyzed patients to control an exoskeleton. Another similar solution helps people with bionic prostheses operate rehabilitation equipment.

Visitors to the Made in Moscow booth will see mobile room disinfection devices that purify air with ultraviolet light. Potential buyers will also be presented with a unique medical powder that can stop any bleeding within two minutes.

The Moscow delegation at Medica will also talk about medical tourism. Foreigners can undergo comprehensive rehabilitation and treatment at affordable prices in Moscow.

Medica is a unique platform for demonstrating cutting-edge healthcare technologies. Last year, the trade show welcomed nearly 120 thousand visitors from 155 countries. More than 5,200 organizations from 66 countries showcased their achievements there.

The Made in Moscow booth at Medica is organized by the Moscow Export Center (MEC), a subsidiary of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development. Last year, 20 Moscow companies participated in the event. Six of them were able to sign a total of nine contracts.

The Moscow Export Center was set up by the Government of Moscow in November 2017 to foster the promotion of local manufacturers abroad. The MEC operates as a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs, providing them with a range of financial and non-financial incentives. It is designed is to boost the number of Moscow-based exporters and strengthen Moscow's position as the number one exporter among the Russian regions.
