Urban.Tech Moscow International Tour Wraps Up in Yerevan

On November 10, the Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center (ISTC) in Yerevan hosted the final ideathon of the international tour of Urban.Tech Moscow 2019, a large-scale IT contest organized  by the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development and the Moscow Agency of Innovations.

The international tour commenced on October 26 in Minsk, followed by events in Riga, Almaty, Tel Aviv, and Prague.

During the ideathon, 20 teams of IT specialists were designing solutions for one of the challenges in five categories: Smart City (street maintenance cost optimization and event content management); Finance (vulnerability search and budgeting process visualization); AI (innovative product features identification and visual search); Management Systems (digital urban space modeling and cross-product cyberthreat detection); Marketplaces (a real-time public transport tracking app and an IT solutions marketplace).

“In the post-industrial era, information technology has become the main resource of a developed society. The need for IT specialists – developers for web and mobile platforms, interface designers, analysts, engineers, managers and marketing professionals – is constantly growing. The Urban.Tech Moscow program and accelerator are designed to accumulate the most effective IT solutions for the city and give young professionals from different countries an opportunity to realize their potential,” said Alexei Fursin, head of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.

Top three teams from Yerevan will travel to Moscow to participate in RoadShow, a series of visits to top Russian IT and finance companies scheduled for November 26 through December 3.

“Hackathons are an essential part of the innovation ecosystem that enables the tailoring of teams to a specific technological need. By supporting Urban.Tech Moscow we are taking part in the development and strengthening of the venture community and believe that we'll be able to work with some of the teams competing in the hackathon in the future,” said Oleg Teplov, CEO of VEB Ventures, a technology partner of Urban.Tech Moscow.
